February 19, 2019 @ 8:00 am - February 22, 2019 @ 5:00 pm
The Virgin Islands Housing Authority is sponsoring a National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) Instructor training. This training is at no cost to participants.
Training Requirements:
- All participants should be able to read and pass the required written test exams and be able to teach in a classroom setting for basic certification.
- Persons identified must have journey level training and experience for Craft Certification. A journeyman is considered one who has been trained in a trade and who has a minimum of four years of experience working in that trade i.e. Carpenter, Electrician, Plumber, etc. That person would then be certified to teach and certify in that trade.
- Core Curriculum: The NCCER Core Curriculum is a prerequisite to all other Level 1 craft curriculum. If persons do not meet the journey criteria, they will be certified to teach the Core Curriculum only and/or proctor tests at a minimum. If they have any background in construction they can be certified to teach the full Core Curriculum. The modules cover topics such as Basic Safety, Communication Skills and Introduction to Construction Drawings.
- All participants must submit a resume prior to being certified as an NCCER Instructor.
