COMMISSIONER GARY MOLLOY ANNOUNCES VIDOL IS NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR THE 2025 SUMMER YOUTH WORK EXPERIENCE PROGRAM


USVI – Virgin Islands Department of Labor Commissioner Gary Molloy announces that applications are now open for the 2025 Summer Youth Work Experience Program (SYWEP). The SYWEP is the largest youth employment program in the Virgin Islands, providing opportunities for youth between the ages of 14 to 25 with career exploration opportunities and paid work experiences every summer.

This year VIDOL anticipates providing summer opportunities for more than six hundred (600) youth. Selected applications ages 14 and 15 will participate in a versatile four (4) week career exploration program introducing them to the world of work. Selected participants ages 16 to 25 will participate in an enriching five (5) week summer experience with placements in the private and public sectors.

Priority will be given to applicants that have not previously received a work experience, high school Juniors and Seniors, dislocated youth, and applications that are received in a timely manner with the supporting documents.

Interested youth can apply online at www.vidol.gov/youth. Applicants will need to submit the following documents when applying:

  • Proof of Citizenship or Legal Residency Status (Passport, Birth Certificate OR Permanent Resident Card)
  • Proof of enrollment in High School/College, Basic Education or Adult Continuing Education (Report Card, Diploma or Degree)
  • Valid Picture ID (School or Driver’s License)
  • Resume (if available)
  • Social Security Card (required to submit when selected)

Youth, under the age of 18 application should be signed by a parent/guardian to authorize participation in the program.
The deadline to apply is Friday, April 11, 2025.
