DEPARTMENT OF LABOR IS NOW ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR THE 2021 SUMMER YOUTH EMPLOYMENT & TRAINING PROGRAM
USVI, February 22, 2021-Commissioner Gary Molloy announces open enrollment period for Summer Youth Employment where applications for the 2021 Summer Youth Work Experience and Training Program will now be accepted. All “In and Out of School” Youth between the ages of 14 to 25 are invited to register for the approximate six hundred (600) available slots. Applications are available online and can be submitted electronically through the department’s website at www.vidol.gov (under the forms tab). They can also be picked up at any of the Department of Labor office locations on both islands. St. John residents may pick up registration forms at St. John Administrator’s Office. A Summer Employment Manual is also available online providing additional information for participants and parents. This summer, priority will be applied to individuals who submit complete applications accompanied with supporting documents, and:
a) have not previously received a work experience;
b) are high School Juniors and Seniors;
c) are ‘Out-of-School/Unemployed & Dislocated Youth.
Youth, under age of 18, should be accompanied by a parent/guardian to sign authorization for participation in the program. All selected applicants must provide a) proof of citizenship or legal residency status; b) proof of enrollment in college, high school; c) evidence of a social security card; d) Photo ID; and copy of a resume if available.
While applications continue to be received throughout the year for other programs and activities, youth are strongly encouraged to submit their applications for summer experiences by April 23, 2021.
