LABOR INVESTING FOR TOMORROW (LIFT) INTERNSHIP PROGRAM 2021

USVI, February 19, 2021-Labor Commissioner Gary Molloy announces that the Department of Labor is now accepting applications for the Labor Investing for Tomorrow (LIFT) Summer Internship Program.

Now in its thirty-second (32nd) year, the LIFT program continues to provide college juniors, seniors, and graduate students with meaningful work/internship experience in their chosen career field.  Interns can gain college credits, acquire hands on–training, and the opportunity to network with professionals in their respective careers. “This year’s LIFT Program will support the workforce movements that we have been supporting. This program helps to balance the opportunities for skill development, while providing incentives for income to youth in the territory. This also helps to prepare our future workforce professionals,” commented Commissioner Gary Molloy.

LIFT Interns will be paid $13 per hour and expected to work no more than 35 hours per week for approximately 6-8 weeks. All LIFT interns will be required to participate in a special project, a mentorship initiative, and community service activities. Additionally, all participants in the program are provided with Life Skills Management & Career Orientation Workshops, Workplace Preparation Skills, and Occupational Safety & Health Regulation (OSHA) training. “Though we are in the midst of a pandemic, we are working closely with our partners to ensure the safety of our students, while providing meaningful work experience,” said Territorial Project Coordinator Kevin Dixon.

 Eligibility criteria are as follows:

  1. Interns must presently be a college junior, senior or a graduate student;
