FREE Construction Skills & Trades Training Program Opportunity

DOL In collaboration with VI Housing Authority, VI Department of Education, and the University of the Virgin Islands’ Community Engagement and Life Long (UVICELL) Center, will be offering a FREE six week training opportunity in Construction Skills & Trades.
The training will follow the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) Curriculum. Classes will cover Basic Safety, Construction Math, Introduction to Hand Tools, Introduction to Power Tools, Introduction to Blueprints, Introduction to Green Jobs, Introduction to the VI Code, Communication and Employment Skills. Classes will be held Monday – Friday beginning on Monday, August 2 from 9 am – 5 pm at the UVICELL Center on St. Thomas.
Interested individuals must register with the Department of Labor and be 18 years or older. A basic skills test is required and this course is free for eligible candidates. Industry certification will be received upon the successful completion of the course and allow the participants to apply for national certification. Last date to register is Thursday, July 8th.
